Message The early style injectors are failing due to electrolysis.

When the injectors were originally designed , street fuels did not contain alcohol. The early injectors both stock 370cc and 555cc use to live a long life before alcohol fuels came out. Now with most modern fuels both early style stock injectors and 555 injectors are failing regularly. ( brand new or old ones).

The 1990 - 1994 (early) injectors have positive 12 volts all the time (even when the key is off). The ecu triggers them with a ground source.

The combination of the injector having power all the time combined with using fuel with alcohol is causing accelerated electrolysis and it is eating up the electrical connection to the injector coil. (This is why the resistance goes up and the injectors eventually go open).

The later style injectors have a couple things going for them.....
They have better internal insulation and they also do not have a constant power source. The ECU sends a positive trigger and they have a constant ground.

Two things you could do to help early style injectors:
1. If possible only use fuels that do not contain alcohol ( This is almost impossible with most pump fuels today)
2. Hook up a switch that kills the 12 volt power to the injectors when the car is not on. (This could also serve as a kill switch )
